Halloween, a holiday celebrated on October 31st, has its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. This festival marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, which was believed to be a time when the veil between the living and the dead became thin.
The Celts would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off any malevolent spirits that might be roaming the earth on this night. The Roman Empire later adopted these traditions and merged them with their own festivals, creating a unique blend of cultures.
As the years passed, Halloween spread throughout Europe and eventually to North America. Today, it is celebrated by people of all ages and backgrounds around the world.
At UCHC, we are proud to continue this tradition. We have a long history of hosting Halloween-themed events and activities for our students, staff, and faculty.
As we celebrate this spooky holiday, it's important to remember that safety should always be our top priority. Here are some tips to help you have a safe and enjoyable Halloween:
Make sure to only visit well-lit and familiar areas, especially at night.
Be cautious when walking or driving near trick-or-treaters.
